The Pasar Besar TTDI is an iconic building located in the center of TTDI. Essentially a wet market, where locals and expats alike come to buy groceries and raw materials. Distinguished by it's unique large structure in comparison to the surrounding shoplots, it also possesses a striking red tiled tiers that make the building stand out.

The main entrances of the front and back of the building are identical, possessing a roofed structure that protrudes from the main building, inviting visitors to take refuge in the shade it provides from the afternoon sun. The face of the structure's facade is of wood and concrete with a simple patterned design, giving it the feel of a traditional malay building.

The inside of the building is organized with rows of small, connected, shop/stalls, each running their own individual business. The stalls run from the central square of the building to the ends.

Shop rows are positioned symmetrically along a wide walkway, allowing for comfortable circulation whilst also giving it a sort of street-feel.

The ceiling of the building is partially opened to light from the outside, allowing for natural light to enter and illuminate the inside of the building, providing warmer, more natural light whilst lessening the need for electrical lighting.

Open spaces are located toward the center of the building allowing for individual stalls, activities and more comfortable circulation space. These spaces are also connected to the upper floors through the opening in the ceiling, allowing for natural light to illuminate the area.

Railings surround the openings of the ceiling of the ground floor / floor of the upper floor, providing a leaning surface and also an elevated view of activities on the ground floor from above.

Along the peremeter of each floor is an opening to the outside, allowing for better air ventilation.

Shoplots also have openings in their sides to allow for better air ventilation.

Just outside the building is the loading bay on the lower ground floor, where trucks / slorries carrying fresh supply unload their goods to be brought into the markets upstairs.
